Description

Our Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip loose leaf black tea is a beautifully smooth Chinese Dian Hong with large twisted leaves, abundant golden buds and a rich, naturally sweet cup. Deep amber in the infusion, it offers milk-chocolate creaminess, cocoa depth and a gentle black pepper warmth, finishing silky, rounded and remarkably free from bitterness.

Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip Loose Leaf Black Tea

Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip is a premium Chinese black tea in the Dian Hong tradition, immediately recognisable by its large, boldly twisted leaves and generous proportion of golden buds. These tippy leaves give the tea its distinctive appearance and help create the soft, naturally sweet character that sets it apart from more ordinary black teas.

The result is a tea with genuine presence: rich and layered, yet smooth enough to enjoy slowly without milk.

Cocoa Sweetness, Pepper Warmth and Silky Depth

In the cup, this Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip loose leaf black tea brews to a deep amber liquor with a smooth, almost silky texture. The flavour opens with soft cocoa sweetness and a creamy milk-chocolate impression, followed by a gentle black pepper warmth and a deeper earthy roundness as the cup cools.

It is full-bodied without becoming heavy, complex without sharpness and particularly rewarding for tea drinkers who enjoy naturally mellow black teas with real depth.

A Golden-Tipped Dian Hong from Yunnan

Dian Hong is the celebrated black tea style of Yunnan province, and Gold Tip grades are especially prized for their abundance of golden buds. The young tips bring natural sweetness and a polished mouthfeel, while the broader leaf gives structure and a fuller, more satisfying infusion.

This makes Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip an excellent choice for those looking for a refined Chinese black tea with both visual beauty and a generously smooth cup.

A Refined Black Tea for Morning or Afternoon

Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip is excellent as a composed morning tea, but it is just as rewarding later in the day when there is time to notice its softer details. Drunk plain, the cocoa sweetness and gentle spice are most apparent. With a little milk, the cup becomes rounder and more comforting without losing its character.

How to Brew Yunnan Imperial Gold Tip

Use water just off the boil, around 90°C to 95°C, and add one heaped teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.

A 3-minute brew gives a smoother, sweeter cup with the golden tips especially prominent. A 4-minute infusion develops greater depth and a fuller, earthier finish. This tea will also tolerate a slightly longer steep better than many black teas, remaining smooth rather than turning harsh.

A second infusion is worthwhile, producing a lighter and slightly more floral cup.
